Using Group Lists

Overview

Connection Card Pro includes several purpose-built types of Groups, each designed for a different organizational or ministry need.

Departments, Divisions, Classes, Crews, Small Groups and Teams all use the same basic Group List interface, while displaying the information and tools that are relevant to that particular Group type.

This guide focuses on those Group-specific differences. For general help with Search, Filters, Columns, Saved Views, selection and exports, see the related List guides at the bottom of this article.

One Interface for Different Group Types

Connection Card Pro includes six primary Group types:

Each Group List follows the same general interface, but the available columns, actions, grouping and other tools can differ because each Group type supports different features.

For example, a Crew may include scheduling and notification settings that don't apply to a Department, while a Class can contain sessions or streams that aren't applicable to a Small Group.

Understanding Group Statuses

Group rows may display status indicators to help you quickly understand how the Group is configured.

Depending on the Group type, these may include:

Some Group types may also display icons for requirements or scheduling-related settings, such as background-check requirements, training requirements or Crew notification methods.

Categories and Grouping

Grouping is particularly useful on Group Lists because different Group types naturally organize themselves in different ways.

Depending on the Group type, a grouped List may organize Groups by:

Groups without an applicable Category or parent are placed into the appropriate uncategorized or top-level area.

Use the Grouped control when you want to switch between this organized presentation and a flatter List.

Parent and Child Groups

Some Group structures contain parent and child relationships.

When a Group List supports hierarchy, child rows are displayed beneath their parent so you can understand the relationship without opening each Group individually.

Classes and Crews can include hierarchical rows in the List. Other Group types can also belong beneath applicable parent Groups and can be organized by those relationships.

Hierarchy and Grouping are related, but they aren't the same thing:

Filtering Group Lists

Group-specific Filters can help narrow a large collection of Groups.

Depending on the Group type, available filters may include:

Because different Group types support different features, not every filter appears on every Group List.

See Searching, Filtering, Sorting & Grouping Lists for help combining Group filters with Search and sorting.

Group Preset Views

Group Lists can provide Preset Views for common ways of finding Groups.

Depending on the Group type, these may include:

Only Preset Views that make sense for the current Group type are shown.

You can also create your own Saved Views for Group combinations you use regularly.

Opening and Managing a Group

Click the Group name to open that Group.

The three-dot (...) row menu provides additional Group-specific tools. The available options vary by Group type and by your permissions.

Depending on the Group, actions may provide access to tools such as:

Instead of every Group type showing tools that don't apply to it, Connection Card Pro only presents the actions relevant to that particular Group.

Working with Multiple Groups

Select multiple Groups when you want to make the same change to several of them at once.

Group bulk actions can include:

The selected count lets you confirm how many Groups will be affected before completing the action.

See Selecting Records, Bulk Actions & Exporting Lists for more information.

Viewing Groups on a Map

A Map option is available for Group types where geographic location is useful, including Small Groups, Classes and Crews.

The Map uses the Groups in your current results, so Search and Filters can be applied before opening it.

Groups must have usable location information in order to appear on the Map.
