Using Tag Binders Across Your Organization
Overview
Tag Binders are a powerful reporting and organization tool in Connection Card Pro.
They let you view everything in your system that shares a particular tag — across groups, events, people, giving profiles, transactions, forms, and more.
Think of a Tag Binder like a smart folder. Each tag gets its own binder that automatically collects all records associated with that tag —
so you can quickly analyze, audit, or manage everything related to a campaign, semester, project, ministry, or demographic.
Where to Find Tag Binders
- Go to the Organization menu
- Select Tag Binders
You’ll land on a categorized folder view showing all your available tag types and tags.
Navigating the Tag Binder Interface
Public & Custom Tags
- Shown in folders grouped by Category (e.g., “Stage of Life”, “Semester”)
- Click on a category folder to view all tags within that category
- Click on a tag folder to open the binder for that tag
Project, Fundraiser, and Purpose Tags
- These appear directly as tag folders (no category grouping)
- Clicking the folder opens the Tag Binder for that tag
What You’ll See Inside a Tag Binder
Each Tag Binder displays a list of all items in the system that are currently assigned that tag. This may include:
| Item Type |
Notes |
| Groups | All group types (Departments, Classes, Crews, etc.) |
| Events | If the tag is a Public, Custom, Project, or Fundraiser tag |
| People | For all tag types except Public |
| Recurring Giving Profiles | Useful for campaign tracking |
| Transactions | Project, Fundraiser, and Purpose tags only (not Custom or Public) |
| Forms & Submissions | Includes both the form and responses (if tagged) |
| Meeting Times | Public or Custom tags apply |
| Registrations | Event or form registration records |
| Resources | e.g., rooms, equipment, facilities tagged for internal use |
- ✅ Items appear only if the tag is assigned to them directly.
- 🔒 Tag visibility (e.g., Public vs Admin-only) still applies — only Admins can view all tags and binders.
Tag Binder Use Cases
| Use Case |
Example |
| Track a Fundraiser | See all giving profiles and donations tagged “Youth Camp 2025” |
| Audit Tag Usage | View all items tagged “Fall 2024” and identify gaps |
| Run a Ministry Campaign | View all groups, events, forms tagged “Outreach Weekend” |
| Find All “Young Adult” Content | Includes public-facing events, groups, and meeting times |
| Review Tagged Transactions | Journal or register entries tagged with “Missions Purpose” |
How Tags Get into Tag Binders
Items appear in a Tag Binder when they’re tagged manually or automatically. Examples:
- A Group is manually assigned the tag “Young Adults”
- A Giving Profile is created using a Unique Giving Link that includes “Building Campaign 2025”
- A Transaction inherits the tag from a tagged Giving Profile
- A Form Submission is auto-tagged using form settings
What You Can Do From a Tag Binder
- View and access each item
- Jump directly to group or event pages
- Review tag usage across modules
- Identify missing assignments
- (Coming Soon: Export, filter, or bulk manage items)
Best Practices
- Use consistent tag names across the system (e.g., “Fall 2024”, not “Fall ‘24” vs “Fall Semester”)
- Assign tags at creation — especially for giving links, forms, and events
- Use Tag Categories (for Public/Custom) to keep the interface clean
- Regularly audit tag binders to eliminate underused or duplicate tags
Things to Know
- Only Admin users can access Tag Binders
- Binders respect each tag’s visibility:
- Public Tags show only public-facing content
- Custom/Project/Fundraiser Tags show internal/admin-only items
- Some tag types (like Purpose) only apply to specific modules
