Troubleshooting DYMO Printers on Mac

For Mac users who already followed the regular DYMO setup steps but are still having trouble printing from Connection Card Pro.

Connection Card Pro supports DYMO printers for check-in name tags and pickup tags. On Mac, DYMO printing depends on DYMO’s own software and background web service working correctly.

This guide is specifically for Mac users who already followed the regular DYMO printer setup instructions but are still having trouble printing from Connection Card Pro.

For general setup instructions, first see:

How DYMO printing works on Mac

Printing from Connection Card Pro to a DYMO printer is different from printing directly inside the DYMO Connect app.

For Connection Card Pro to print:

  1. The DYMO printer must be installed on your Mac.
  2. The printer must be able to print from DYMO Connect.
  3. DYMO’s background web service must be running.
  4. Your browser must be able to communicate with that DYMO Web Service.
  5. Connection Card Pro can then detect and print to the DYMO printer.

If the DYMO Web Service is not running or fails its diagnostic test, Connection Card Pro will not be able to communicate with the printer.

Step 1: Confirm DYMO Connect can print

Before troubleshooting Connection Card Pro, open DYMO Connect on your Mac and try printing a label directly from DYMO Connect.

If the printer does not print from DYMO Connect, the issue is with the DYMO printer setup, DYMO software, printer connection, labels, or Mac printer installation.

Connection Card Pro will not be able to print until DYMO Connect can print successfully.

Step 2: Check your DYMO Connect version

To check which version of DYMO Connect you have installed:

  1. Click the magnifying glass in the top-right corner of your Mac.
  2. Search for DYMO Connect.
  3. Open DYMO Connect.
  4. In the top menu bar, click DYMO Connect.
  5. Click About DYMO Connect.

If printing recently stopped working after a DYMO update, make a note of the version number. DYMO’s Mac software and web service behavior may vary between versions or a recent update to DYMO's software may have caused a new issue. In that case, we recommend rolling back to a previous or earlier version of DYMO Connect.

Step 3: Confirm the DYMO Web Service is running

Look in the top-right menu bar of your Mac for a small DYMO icon.

If you see the DYMO icon
  1. Click the icon.
  2. Click Diagnose.
  3. Read the message that appears.
If you do not see the DYMO icon
  1. Open Finder.
  2. Go to Applications.
  3. Look for DYMO.WebApi.Mac.Host.
  4. Open it.

You may not see a normal application window open. That is expected. Look again in the top-right Mac menu bar for the DYMO icon.

After it appears, click the icon and choose Diagnose.

Step 4: Understand the Diagnose result

The Diagnose option is one of the best ways to tell whether DYMO’s local web service is working.

If Diagnose says the DYMO Connect Service is running

Close and reopen your browser, then try printing again from Connection Card Pro.

If Diagnose shows an error, does not open, or does not confirm that the service is running

The issue is most likely with DYMO’s Web Service on your Mac, not with Connection Card Pro.

Optional: Test the DYMO Web Service in your browser

You can also test whether your browser can reach the DYMO Web Service.

Open this address in your browser:

https://127.0.0.1:41951/DYMO/DLS/Printing/Check

If DYMO’s Web Service is working, you should see a success message or confirmation page.

If the page does not load, shows a certificate warning, or cannot connect, your browser is not able to reach DYMO’s Web Service. This usually points to a DYMO Web Service or certificate issue on the Mac.

Step 5: Restart the browser and Mac

After starting DYMO.WebApi.Mac.Host, close and reopen your browser before testing Connection Card Pro again.

If it still does not work, restart your Mac.

A restart can help if:

  • DYMO Connect was just installed or updated
  • the DYMO Web Service was not running
  • macOS blocked or delayed a DYMO background service
  • your browser had already loaded before DYMO’s service was available

Step 6: Make sure DYMO starts when your Mac starts

The DYMO Web Service must be running whenever you want to print from Connection Card Pro.

If the DYMO icon does not appear automatically after restarting your Mac, add it to your login items:

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Go to General > Login Items & Extensions.
  3. Under Open at Login, click the + button.
  4. Select DYMO.WebApi.Mac.Host.
  5. Add it.
  6. Restart your Mac and confirm the DYMO icon appears in the menu bar.

If macOS shows DYMO-related background items under Allow in the Background, keep those enabled.

Step 7: If Diagnose fails, repair DYMO’s Web Service certificate

DYMO has a known repair process for issues related to the DYMO Web Service certificate.

If the DYMO Diagnose tool fails, follow DYMO’s official instructions for reinstalling the Web Service certificate.

A common repair process is:

  1. Uninstall DYMO Connect.
  2. Restart your Mac.
  3. Follow DYMO’s instructions to remove the DYMO Web Service certificates from Keychain Access. You can find DYMO's instructions for this here.
  4. Restart your Mac again.
  5. Reinstall DYMO Connect from DYMO’s official download page.
  6. Approve any macOS security prompts for DYMO.
  7. Restart your Mac again.
  8. Open DYMO.WebApi.Mac.Host if it does not start automatically.
  9. Click the DYMO icon in the menu bar and choose Diagnose.

Wireless DYMO printers on Mac

If you are using a DYMO wireless printer, first follow the separate guide:

Setting up Dymo Wireless Label Printer

Wireless DYMO printers require additional setup through DYMO’s software. Before testing in Connection Card Pro, confirm that:

  • the printer is connected to the same network as your Mac,
  • the printer has been added through DYMO Connect,
  • DYMO Connect can print to it,
  • and the DYMO Web Service Diagnose test passes.

If the wireless printer does not work in DYMO Connect, it will not work in Connection Card Pro.

When this is probably a DYMO issue

The issue is likely with DYMO’s Mac software, not Connection Card Pro, if:

  • DYMO Connect cannot print a label
  • the DYMO icon does not appear in the Mac menu bar
  • DYMO.WebApi.Mac.Host will not open
  • the Diagnose option shows an error
  • the DYMO Web Service browser test does not load
  • the issue started after installing or updating DYMO Connect
  • DYMO’s certificate repair instructions resolve the issue

When to contact Connection Card Pro support

Contact Connection Card Pro support if:

  • DYMO Connect can print successfully
  • the DYMO Web Service icon is visible
  • Diagnose confirms the service is running
  • the DYMO browser test works
  • you restarted your browser and Mac
  • but Connection Card Pro still does not detect or print to the DYMO printer

When contacting support, please include:

  • your Mac model and macOS version
  • your DYMO printer model
  • your DYMO Connect version
  • whether the printer is USB or wireless
  • whether you can print from DYMO Connect
  • whether the DYMO icon appears in the Mac menu bar
  • the exact message shown when clicking Diagnose
  • which browser you are using
  • a screenshot of the printer selection area in Connection Card Pro

This information helps us determine whether Connection Card Pro is unable to detect a working DYMO service, or whether DYMO’s Mac service is not available to the browser.

Summary

For DYMO printing to work from Connection Card Pro on Mac:

  1. DYMO Connect must be installed.
  2. The DYMO printer must print successfully from DYMO Connect.
  3. DYMO.WebApi.Mac.Host must be running.
  4. The DYMO Web Service Diagnose test must pass.
  5. Your browser may need to be restarted after starting the DYMO service.
  6. If Diagnose fails, DYMO’s Web Service certificate may need to be repaired using DYMO’s official instructions.

If DYMO’s own Web Service is not running correctly, Connection Card Pro cannot communicate with the printer until that DYMO issue is resolved.
