App Home View (Mobile App Home Screen)
What it is
The App Home View is the customizable home screen your members see when they open the Connection Card Pro mobile app and are logged in to your organization. You control the layout, images, and tiles (elements) so people can jump straight to what matters—give, register, submit a form, view groups, etc.

Enable or disable the App Home View
- Go to Web & App ▸ Hub & App Settings ▸ Personal Hub Settings.
- Under Mobile App – App Home View, choose:
- A specific Home View (the one you’ve built—see below), or
- Show Personal Hub Dashboard (use the same dashboard as the web hub), or
- Do Not Use App Home View (disables the feature).
Tip: Changes take effect immediately. Users may need to pull-to-refresh the home screen in the app; if you switch the setting entirely (e.g., from App Home View to Dashboard), they may need to fully close and reopen the app once. This caching keeps the app fast.
Create and manage Home Views
- Go to Web & App ▸ App Home View.
- Click Add New to create a view, or Edit to update an existing one.
- From the “⋯” menu on a view you can Set as Default, Duplicate, or Remove. Only one view can be the Primary/Default at a time.
If the active view is removed and you don’t change the setting, the app will show a very simple “Welcome to {organization_name}” screen until you select a new primary or change the setting.

Using the Home View Editor
The editor shows a phone preview on the left and your tools on the right.
1) Add elements (tiles & blocks)
Click a layout size and then choose what to add.
- Sizes:
1/3 width
, 1/2 width
, Wide (2:1), Large (full-width tall). You can resize later from the element’s settings.
- Drag-and-drop to reorder.
- Groups: Add elements into a group to move a whole section together. There’s no limit to the number of groups or elements.

2) Element kinds (what each tile can do)
- Custom Form – Link to one of your forms.
- Dashboard Widget – Surface a widget you’ve already created (e.g., quick metrics or shortcuts).
- Digital Guest Card – One-tap access for new guests to connect.
- Event (Specific Event) – Link to a single event.
- Events (All or a Category) – List all events or just a chosen category.
- External Link – Open any URL (opens in the device’s browser).
- Giving/Donations – “Give” button; optionally pick a specific giving/donation link.
- Group (Specific Group) – Link directly to one group’s info tab (details, upcoming events, shared files).
- Groups (All Groups or by Type) – Jump to a filtered list (Departments, Divisions, Classes, Crews, Small Groups, Teams).
- Media Page – Link to a Media page you’ve created.
- Prayer Request – Shortcut to submit a request.
- Text – A simple text block; supports a few dynamic keywords (e.g.,
{{FIRST_NAME}}
) for personalization.
- Alert Message – Color-coded notice (Info, Notice, Success, Warning, Critical) with an optional expiry date.
You can set an expiration date, but not a future start/schedule time.
3) Images & aspect ratios
- Hero / image tiles: Upload your own image or choose a stock image.
- Aspect ratios: Square tiles are 1:1; Wide tiles are 2:1. (No in-editor cropping tools—prepare images in those ratios for best results.)

4) Visibility / audience
Some tiles have Only visible to Logged in Users. Currently, the App Home View is shown to logged-in users anyway; this toggle is for future parity and special cases.
5) Save your changes
- Deleting a tile shows a confirmation, but no changes are permanent until you click Save.
- This makes it easy to “undo” by simply leaving or reloading before saving.
Quick layout ideas (that work well)
- A hero image with your church branding.
- A Give tile (Giving/Donations).
- I’m New / Digital Guest Card for first-time visitors.
- This Week’s Events (Events: Category or All).
- A Notice/Warning alert for last-minute changes (service times, weather, etc.).
- Groups (by type) to help people find community quickly.
- A Media Page link for sermons or resources.
Keep the most important actions above the fold; use Groups to reorder entire sections easily.
Troubleshooting
- I don’t see my changes:
- Make sure the view you edited is Set as Default and the mobile app setting is set to use the App Home View.
- Pull-to-refresh the home screen; if you changed the setting entirely, close and reopen the app once.
- My image looks cropped oddly: Prepare images at 1:1 (square) or 2:1 (Wide) before uploading.
- External link opens a browser: That’s expected—External Link tiles open in the device’s default browser.
Permissions
- Building and managing views is under Web & App ▸ App Home View.
- Turning the App Home View on/off is under Web & App ▸ Hub & App Settings ▸ Personal Hub Settings (admins with access to these settings).
