When sending text messages from Connection Card Pro, there are a number of status messages or error codes which you may encounter. Below, you will find an explanation of the common status messages or error codes which you may see.

To see related status messages or error codes, go to the Communications menu > Settings > SMS Log.

Status

When our third-party text message provider sends a message, their servers send our servers updates any time the status of that message changes. Their status updates are also based on updates they receive from the various cellular carriers.

Under the status column, you may see the following statuses:

Queuing - This message has been queued for sending / delivery, but has not been delivered yet.

Delivered - This means that the message has been or should have been delivered. This was acknowledged by our third-party provider and usually acknowledged by the cell phone service providers.

Status Unavailable - This mean that we do not have an updated status update on this message. Sometimes this is due to a server communication issue or sometimes due to our third-party provider not having confirmation of the delivery from the cell phone provider. This could also mean that the message was sent and we just have not received a status update yet. The messages are sent immediately, but the status updates can sometimes be delayed. In most cases, this is nothing to be concerned about, and your messages were likely delivered.

Failed/Undelivered - This means that this message failed sending or was not delivered for some reason. Hovering over the status may provide additional details into why this failed to deliver.

A Question Mark symbol - When you see this in the status column, this usually means that the message could not be sent due to an error. Hover over the icon to see the error message. Error messages are explained below.

Error Codes

Here is an explanation of common error codes or error messages you may see:

"Message blocked by STOP" - This means that the recipient has sent the keyword "STOP" (or a similar keyword). No other messages may be sent to this number until the recipient sends the keyword "START". This is enforced at the carrier level and there is nothing that we (or any other text message provider) can do to change this. If our server has record of this happening, then you will not be charged for this message in most cases. However, in some cases, this error message is directly from the carrier - in which case you would be charged for this message. We recommend removing this recipient from your list to prevent getting charged for undelivered messages.

"Invalid Number" - This means that the number is not a valid number. Either it is not a valid number according to the North American Numbering Standard, or it is a number not currently assigned, or it is a number not capable of receiving text messages, such as a VoIP line or landline. Messages sent to invalid numbers do get billed, because it is our third-party provider or the cell phone providers notifying us that it is invalid. We recommend removing or updating these numbers to avoid being billing for undelivered messages.

"Spam Detected" - This means that the carrier has flagged this message for spam and the message was not delivered. This is not something that we (or any other text message provider) has control over. Each carrier has their own rules and triggers for how they determine if a message is spam. Any message which triggers their spam filter will be blocked by the cell phone carrier. Carriers do not publish their spam filter rules. However, there are a number of ways that you can compose your messages to avoid triggering carrier-level spam filters. See this article for more information. Messages with this error message do count as a message sent by your account. We recommend examining the message being sent and making changes to avoid triggering spam filters.

"Network Error" - This means that the recipient's carrier was unable to deliver the message due to temporary network issues. It may or may not be automatically reattempted (depending on the carrier and their policies).

"Unreachable" - This means that the recipient is temporarily unreachable (according to the cell phone carrier).

"Prohibited by Carrier" - This means that the recipient's carrier does not support sending this type of message.

"Message expired" - This means that the message was queued for more than 16 hours and unable to be delivered during that time. This is due to an issue on the carrier's end or with the recipient's number.
