Automated Arrival / Departure Notifications

Send email, text or push notifications to users or their parents upon check-in / check-out using Kiosk
Added January 5, 2026, v4.0.9

Overview

Using Connection Card Pro's Kiosk, you can now set up automated email, text or push notifications to be sent to individuals and/or to their parents whenever they check-in or check-out using the Kiosk! In some situations, such as a youth drop-in center, this gives parents peace of mind to know if their child has arrived or to know when they've left. In other situations, this can be used as a security feature to alert other in case someone has checked-in using their information.

These settings can be set at the Department-level meaning that each department can choose their own options for how this feature works!

How to Set Up

This feature is disabled by default. You may enable it separately for each department where you'd like to utilize it.

There are 12 different notifications available which can be enabled. This includes email, text messages, and push notifications for each of these four options:

Then, choose which phone number text messages should be sent from and which email address should be used as the reply-to email address. Emails will come from no-reply@connectioncard.net by default, but choosing a reply-to email address will allow individuals to reply to you directly by clicking reply when viewing the email notification.

Note About Texting

Each notification sent will count as a single text message unit toward your account's limit. If you enable text notification for all four scenarios, this could result in up to 6 text messages for each person's check-in/out cycle (assuming two parents for each person). To limit costs, we recommend starting with only what you believe is necessary or encouraging parents to download the mobile app if they wish to receive arrival or departure notifications.

Using During Check-in

This feature is only active when individuals check-in or check-out through Kiosk (either a self check-in station or Service Counter). Recording attendance in other ways, including the mobile app, will not trigger a check-in or check-out notification.

In Kiosk (or on the Check-in Kiosk App) choose the department you wish to operate in. This must be a department which has Check-in or Check-out Notifications enabled.

Perform a check-in or check-out as you normally do through the self check-in kiosk or through Service Counter.

A notification will be sent based on the settings you've chosen.

Recommendation

We recommend testing this first to make sure it works the way that you expect before using it in real-world use.
