Event Registration Tiers — Quick Guide

Registration Tiers let you offer multiple ticket types (e.g., Friday-only, VIP, Family) for a single event. They’re simple to set up and can be applied to the entire registration or per participant.

Where to set them

  1. Events → View Events (or New Event).
  2. Open the event → Registration Settings (this is Step 2 unless you’ve enabled Advanced Registration Steps).
  3. Scroll to Registration Tiers.

Note: Tier prices override the event’s base price. If selecting a tier is optional, create a “Standard/Regular” tier as one of your tiers. When using tiers, the "regular price" on the first step will be completely ignored.

Create tiers

  1. Click Add New Registration Tier.
  2. Enter Tier Name (what registrants will see).
  3. Set Tier Price.
  4. (Optional) Add a Description and a Limit (cap how many registrations/participants can use this tier).
  5. Repeat to add as many tiers as you'd like (unlimited).
  6. Decide how selection works:
    • Unchecked: Tier is chosen once per registration (applies to everyone on that registration, price is per participant).
    • Check “Allow different tiers to be selected for each participant.”: Each participant chooses their own tier, and each participant priced based on selection.

Click Save (or Next Step) when you’re done.

Common recipes

1) Two-day conference (per participant)

  • Friday only – $25
  • Saturday only – $30
  • Full Event – $50

Enable per participant selection so each attendee chooses the appropriate day or full-event option.

2) General Admission vs. VIP (registration level)

  • General Admission – $20
  • VIP (reserved seats + meet-and-greet) – $60

Leave selection at the registration level when the entire party should have the same experience.

3) Family vs. Individual (registration level)

  • Individual – $15
  • Family (up to 6 people) – $45

Set a Limit on the Family tier if you’re constraining total Family registrations. Optionally, you can also use the "Set Min/Max Price" option on the first step if you aren't planning on using tiers or will be using tiers for another selection.

4) Camp lodging choices (per participant)

  • Dorm Lodging – $250
  • Tent/Lawn – $180

Use per participant so each camper can choose their lodging.

Add optional extras (separate from tiers)

If you want add-ons like “Add $15 Dinner” or “Bus Ride $20”, use custom fields with pricing. These can work with tiers and can apply at both the registration and participant level.

Early-Bird pricing and Group Pricing also work with tiers! When enabling either, you'll have options to create an early-bird price and a group price for each tier when creating the tiers.

Tips & pitfalls

  • Make selection clear. Use concise tier names and short descriptions so registrants know what they’re picking.
  • Capacity control. Use Limit on tiers that have scarce resources (VIP seats, cabins).
  • Event price vs. Tier price. Tiers override the base event price. If you want “Regular” pricing available and additional options, add a Regular tier, and use custom fields (or Advanced Steps) for the extra options.
  • Combine with Advanced Steps (optional). Tiers are intentionally simple. If your event has complex logic (multi-page workflows, conditional questions), you can still use tiers and then collect extra details with Advanced Registration Steps (or, use Advanced Registration Steps exclusively).
  • Editing later. Changing tier prices affects future registrations. Existing registrations retain their original tier/price. However, it is recommended that you not remove tiers after receiving registrations for that tier.
  • Reports. Tier names appear on rosters and exports, making it easy to sort by ticket type. You can also breakdown the Registrations page by tiers.

That’s it! Tiers give you flexible ticket types without a complex setup—use registration-level tiers when the whole party should match, and participant-level tiers when each attendee can differ.
